Completing our adoption form is a prerequisite to adopting a Basenji through Basenji Rescue and Transport, Inc.
To complete the form you must have a valid email address. (Since we are primarily a Web-based organization, we depend almost entirely on communicating with you via email.) The information you provide helps our coordinators match you and your family with the best Basenji for you.
You might be interested to read about our adoption process and then come back to this page.
Answer the form as completely as you can and remember that your name and email address are required. Your responses will only be used in rescue-related activities but may be posted to a private Web site and may be read by a network of BRAT volunteers and coordinators. Your information may also be transmitted via email to the same.
If you are serious about adopting a rescue and you express interest in a particular dog you can expect interviews and a home-visit from a BRAT coordinator before the adoption is finalized.
If you don't know much about Basenjis, we encourage you to read some of our Reality Stories and the 2004 Dog World article. These stories may enlighten you to the characteristics of the breed. Also be sure to check our links for other Basenji rescue-related and general-information sites. Our BRAT Frequently Asked Questions page is also very informative.
Finally, please note that BRAT will charge an adoption fee to cover direct and indirect expenses incurred in their rescue program. You can pay BRAT either with a check, through PayPal or with your credit card.
If you have applied previously, but would like to be removed from our
list, please use our Contact Us page.
