This
is Aja (sounds like Asia), who also responds to Peanut. She is a short and
stocky 42 lb., 3 year old female Basenji mix -- minus the tail -- who needs
to find a different home. Her owners recently had a baby and unfortunately
Aja is no longer fitting in well.
Aja is a gorgeous, energetic, loving, and loyal dog. She loves attention,
getting her belly rubbed, snuggling and eating peanut butter! She will be a
great companion, but knows her limits. She will sleep in her own bed and has
been trained not to get on the couch. She's a real charmer and will do
anything for a snuggle, so she might need reminding.
Aja has always lived with a companion and likes playing with other dogs
once she gets to know them. She does have the ability to become protective
of her home and owner and will sometimes get
overly excited, lashing out at other animals. She has never lived with a cat
and doesn't seem to like them very much. She seems to do ok around children,
but would recommend older children or adults.
Aja has lots of energy and will play fetch for as long as you can! She
also loves to go for runs or long walks and needs this time to bond with her
owner. She needs to live where she can play in a fenced in yard. Her
favorite pastime is sitting at the window watching the world outside. Aja
does bark and will protect you, even from the mailman. She learns quickly
and is very smart.
Aja started out in a crate, but did not need it for long because she was
such a good dog. She has not been in a crate for over 2 years and is
non-destructive. Although she is not a fan of riding in the car, she will do
just fine with the proper medication and supervision.
Aja will thrive in a loving, laid-back environment where she will be able
to run, play and receive lots of attention! Healthy, housebroken, spayed and
