Izzy is a beautiful 3 year old Basenji mix that we rescued almost three
years ago. She is THE BEST PET ever. She has been nothing but a true
blessing in our lives.
She is house and crate trained. She LOVES to go on car rides or anywhere
with you. She walks or runs well on leash... if you get your tennis shoes
out, expect to see happy feet!
Izzy is trustworthy alone in the house all day. She currently sleeps
either at the foot of our bed or in bed with our 6 year old daughter. Before
bed she goes from room to room, making sure that everyone is in there place,
snug as a bug, before she will decide that she can settle in.
Izzy does require a fenced in yard and would not do well in a home with
cats or other small pets. She will chase cats, squirrels and rabbits... and
she's FAST. She may do well with other dogs after an introduction period.
She likes to be the boss but is very eager to have friends.
She is very protective of her people, her home and yard. She does amazing
with our girls, they are 4 and 6 and we trust her unconditionally with them.
She ONLY barks at people and other dogs outside of our fence. She makes a
Basenji yodel or ah-roo sound when she is happy, and she does this a lot!
She is awesome at agility and really truly aims to please. She has passed
obedience training and knows all the basic commands. She is current on all
her shots and gets yearly physicals. She is nearly perfect in every way.
She has always been a very timid dog and this is especially tru
e with new
people or in a crowd of strangers with lots of activity. We are very sad to
say that we are looking to find her a new home due to a recent misunderstood
incident with a member of our extended family; we are feeling pressured to
place this amazing dog.
She would do best in a home with either a single person or a couple. She
would be an AMAZING pet for anyone that does not have lots of people coming
and going. She would love anyone that likes to take short walks with her and
really wants the companionship of a great dog.
She comes with her dog bed, toys, her personalized food and water bowl,
her blankets and a crate. We only want the best for her. If you would like
