Hi, I'm Jett and I bet you that I love life more than anyone! I was rescued from a kill-shelter at 5 months old with just a day to spare! I don't know why anyone wouldn't want me -I'm handsome, cute, and have a great personality! Did I mention I'm confident in myself?

My rescuers think I'm part Basenji because I chase laser pens, clean myself like a cat, curl up in a ball, and have a loosely curled up tail. And like Basenjis, I shouldn't be allowed to run off leash in the city or near roads, but thankfully I'm allowed to run off leash on trails in the forest. I LOVE creating my own racecourse in the trees or in a big open space!

I love all people, but I will give a couple of "big dog" barks if a stranger comes near the house. I love pretty much every dog I meet except the Pit Bulls I've met so far. I'm ok with cats inside, but when they're outside in my yard, I can't control the urge to chase, catch, and corner them. It's just too fun! I'd love it if I had a dog to play with every day! I also love playing with kids, especially ones older than 6 who can keep up to my pace of playing!

I like to be with my people as much as possible, but when I need to go play outside or go on a walk, I'll let you know. When I'm bored, I'm a chewer. I like to chew on plastic, sticks outside, and toilet paper if I can find it, but when I get caught and am told to "leave it," I'll give it up if I can be persuaded they have something better for me-like a treat or fun toy.

I'm good at settling down on my mat in the kitchen when Mom and Dad are cooking, I'm pretty good at "heeling" on a leash with a clicker and I've only had 1 'accident' since the first week here -- I can even go potty on command outside! I'm the best dog ever when it comes to doing time in my crate inside the house. When they say "Go to bed" and direct me in, I will be completely quiet and sleep until they wake me up in the morning.

Overall, I'd say I'm athletic, handsome, courageous, quirky, and friendly. What more could you want? I'm not as small as a Basenji but not as big as a German Shepherd which makes me the perfect size for traveling in the car and going on adventures with.
