Hunter
Hunter
is a playful, young, adult red & white Basenji male from Northern
California. He was found, wet and cold, wandering the streets in mid
February. Since coming to his foster home, he has made progress gaining
weight. He has been neutered also, which really improved his interaction
with his foster dad's male Basenji. Now they play and run around the fenced
yard constantly. He has a high prey drive and loves to hunt cats and birds.
His second favorite activity is to curl up next to his foster dad and roll
over for a belly and head rub. You can safely touch his head, ears, tail and
legs but do be careful waking him from a sound sleep; he is a bit of a
grouch after a nap. He has been taking walks but he still needs a lot of
work on leash and command training. He has not had any accidents in the
house since being neutered and as long as he has access to the outdoors, or
a couple of walks a day, he is fine. While he is not
house destructive, he does enjoy chewing on the misplaced roll of toilet
paper. Hunter is not food aggressive or jealous about toys.

A good home for Hunter would be with an experienced Basenji
owner with a companion to play with, and time to finish his training on the
leash. He does know the sit command and is learning to come to his new name.
Hunter will not be placed in a home with cats. He is not much of a jumper
but he will bolt if a door is opened for him. Oh yes and he reminds me to
tell everyone he LOVES to BAROO! Loud and clear. If you think you could provide Hunter with love, activity, and evening
cuddle-time, please read the data sheet below carefully, complete
the BRAT
adoption form (if you have not previously done so)
and contact BRAT coordinator,
Ray Eckart. The coordinator's link will take you to a form that will
ask you your name, e-mail address, the city and state you live in, why this dog is perfect for your family, a
typical day in your household, and, if applicable, how you plan to
transport the dog. |
