Hello everyone! I would like to introduce Koby, an 11-year-old tricolor Basenji boy who is looking for that special someone. Koby came from a home where he was loved by his humans but could not get along with his fur mom any longer. When Koby initially came into BRAT to foster, he was not altered or housetrained. Between neuter surgery and diligent work and love, Koby now goes outside to potty!

Koby has shown no aggression toward any of his foster housemates even though he lives with a snippy Chihuahua. He would love nothing more than to have his very own human for nose and belly rubs. If you stop, he will nose you for more loving! Although he does not sleep in bed with his foster, he does have a leather chair he claimed as his own and loves it. I bet if given a chance, Koby will learn to love snugging in bed with his forever human(s) as long as he does not have to share with any others! He loves cuddle time!

Koby came into BRAT a little pudgy and was diagnosed with Cushing’s disease recently. He is now on medications and will need to be on this for life. No matter what, Koby can continue to live a healthy life. If you think you can give this older boy the love he definitely deserves, Koby would love to return that love a million-fold!

If you think you could provide Koby with love, activity, and evening cuddle time, please read the data sheet below carefully, complete the BRAT adoption form (if you have not previously done so) and contact the BRAT coordinator, Rhonda Lowe.

The coordinator's link will take you to a form that will ask you your name, email address, the city and state you live in, why this dog is perfect for your family, a typical day in your household, and, if applicable, how you plan to transport Koby.

There is an adoption fee of $25.00 for Koby. This fee is used for the extensive costs associated with vetting and otherwise caring for Koby and future Basenjis in rescue. BRAT adopters receive a dog that has been spayed or neutered, fully vaccinated, treated for fleas and internal worms if necessary, DNA tested for Fanconi syndrome (dogs under 10), and heartworm tested. Our dogs get recommended dental work. Seniors over 10 get a senior panel. When indicated, we test our dogs for thyroid deficiencies. They are also temperament evaluated. In addition, BRAT provides free lifetime post-adoption counseling to help deal with behavioral or health issues. Finally, we provide a free lifetime identification tag connected to our "lost dog" toll free number.
