Bailey

Bailey is a 9-year-old, red and white male who is such a sweetheart. "Beatle Bailey" as he is affectionately called by his foster, is very loving, eager for attention, and loves to lounge. He enjoys walks in the park, eating, treats, sleeping in the sunshine, and oh, did we say EATING!

Bailey is a an absolute love and joy. He is getting along well in playing with his foster sister, BUT he doesn't share well at all. He is a bit selfish with food and toys; however, he is okay with his foster mom and dad taking things from him. He doesn't care for the crate but isn't destructive so it hasn't been an issue. Bailey is looking for a home where he can be the one and only center of your universe! He craves attention, loves belly rubs and enjoys his toys. Did we mention he was a lounger? Although he is a bit of a couch potato, Bailey will dart through an open door if given the opportunity.

Bailey would prefer to live with a family where there are no young children or other dogs or cats. He is neutered and is current on his rabies vaccination. He has had an allergic reaction to the combo vaccine so that isn't recommended. Bailey also has a thyroid condition that is regulated by daily medication of Soloxine which is very inexpensive. He has lost 5 lbs since coming into rescue and looks quite trim and fit. His daily exercise includes exploring the yard, walks around the park and lounging on the couch. On those cold days, he is quite the snuggler!

If you think you could provide Bailey with love, activity, and evening cuddle-time, please read the data sheet below carefully, complete the BRAT adoption form (if you have not previously done so) and contact BRAT coordinator, Jennifer & Ernesto Gonzalez. The coordinator's link will take you to a form that will ask you your name, e-mail address, the city and state you live in, why this dog is perfect for your family, a typical day in your household, and, if applicable, how you plan to transport Bailey.

There is an adoption fee of $200.00 for Bailey. This fee is used for all costs associated with the care and feeding of Bailey and future basenjis in rescue. BRAT adopters receive a dog that has been spayed or neutered ($100.00-$250.00, depending on location), fully vaccinated, tested for heartworm, and strip-tested for Fanconi (negative unless otherwise noted), and temperament evaluated. In addition, BRAT provides free lifetime post-adoption counseling to help deal with behavioral issues. Finally, we provide a free lifetime identification tag connected to our "lost dog" toll free number.
