If you have children younger than eight living with you or visiting, it is important that you read what our Coordinators may say about the dog’s behavior and temperament with young children. Basenjis frequently come into rescue because the family of an infant or small child does not feel a dog is appropriate for their household. All dogs placed in homes with youngsters under eight will require our Board of Directors’ approval. This final step ensures that the dog you want to adopt has both the background and the potential to fit into your family harmoniously.
